Question: Discuss about the Organizational Behavior Production of Steel in Malaysia. Answer: Brief overview of the case study This case study is related to the organization of Malaysia who is engaged in production of steel. The production manager of the organization was found himself failed in his assignment and had resigned. This situation occurred due to the unexpected accident in the plant which had caused several unwanted situation with casualties of the employees. The time of incident was late afternoon when there were 89 employees deployed on the floor. Out of them one employee was severely injured with 60% burn and was ultimately expired. The production unit had employees who are not cooperative in nature and mostly they prioritized their own interest higher to company interest. As a result the production manager has failed to produce expected result and had to resign being responsible for non-performance as the company had failed to supply the orders and had to face liquidated agreed damage compensation to the parties(Intrieri, 2013). Key issues The referred company of steel production has faced debacle of non-supplying of steel to the purchaser as per order. Main issues are: The production manager could not manage the employees who are unionized and mostly prioritize their micro interest above the macro interest of the company. The unfortunate accident in the plant had caused disruption of production process which had made the production manager to reschedule the employees with their duty schedule. The employees were not agreed to that and had started their discomfort with the new schedule. The process has taken the company to such a stage that union has made agitation and that had attracted news agencies which badly affect the reputation of the company. The company had failed to supply the orders in time and had to bear LAD compensation to the parties for this reason. Application of OB theories to avoid reoccurrence of the issues Following steps may be adopted to avoid reoccurrence of such happenings: Motivation to the employees by introducing production incentive(Heathfield, 2016). Use of better interpersonal communication to convince the employees about the graveness of the situation and make them understand the viability of their job is depending upon the existence of the company with performance. Rescheduling of job with initial meeting with the union so that the members of the union should not say no to the shift they are assigned. Practice of leadership by setting example(Tucker, 2015).
